Are you using Instagram for your business? Instagram stories have been around for over a year now and were originally criticised for mimicking Snapchat however, Instagram has now adapted Stories to have some really cool features!
What Are Instagram Stories?
Like Snapchat Stories, Instagram Stories allows you to post content that disappears after 24 hours. Your stories will display in chronological order and feature at the top of your followers feeds.
Stories brought a new way to showcase your business on Instagram. The idea behind the feature is that you create more “raw” content on Stories, whilst keeping your professional images on your Instagram feed.
How To Use Instagram Stories For Your Business.
Instagram stories will help build a connection between your brand and your audience. With the feature allowing you to appear at the top of a users feed, you can leverage this to gain their attention. We’ve put together a few tips to help you produce content:
Show a different side of your business.
Instagram stories brings raw content to a professional platform. This means your content doesn’t have to be perfect!
We recently completed a redesign for a local food company and we were working on building hype around his products & services. We featured the clients’ rough mock-up of his flyers in our Instagram story, we also created little snippets of our meetings and how we were working together. Not only did this produce an inside look at how Pixel Boy works closely with our clients, it helped gain exposure to the project.
Stick it to the man!
Instagram stories have a stickers section that really helps bring your creative to life. To start using stickers simply hit the square white happy face icon on the right-hand side of your screen or alternatively swipe up. From there you can select a sticker of your choice. There’s a great selection such as emoticons, day related stickers, locations, hashtags (as seen below) and a selfie sticker!
The location sticker is brilliant for brand exposure on a local level and will gain your business new local followers! To feature in the location section of Instagram stories all you have to do is use the location sticker.
Live is the latest feature from Instagram. It’s great if you’re planning to host a Q&A or have some important news to share with your audience. This also notifies users with a push notification stating your account has gone live. You can also use the live feature for broadcasting a class, tutorial or demo of a new product.
Takeovers & Shoutouts

An Instagram takeover is the process of taking over someone else’s Instagram account temporarily and sharing content with their audience. Instagram takeovers are an incredible way for brands, individuals and influencers to collaborate and cross-promote content. Make sure you’re connecting with a brand that is relevant to your business.
